For those curious about the gear I use during my travels, I’ve compiled a list of my essential travel items, including cameras, drones, and other accessories that have served me well over the years. While this list doesn’t cover everything I use, it includes some of my must-haves. Please note that I continually update my gear, so if I upgrade to new equipment, I’ll make sure to update the list accordingly.
My go-to camera for most of my travel photography. I’ve upgraded to the X-T5 from the X-T2, and I find it perfect for capturing stunning shots on my journeys. The Fuji X-series cameras are versatile, compact, and more affordable compared to high-end DSLRs.
This compact and convenient camera bag is ideal for travel. I keep it in my backpack to provide an extra layer of protection for my camera. It also has extra pockets to store spare batteries and SD cards.
These memory cards come in various sizes, and I use the 128GB card, which can hold up to 1,500 raw photos or more than 5,000 JPEG photos.
I’ve used various drone models, but the DJI Mavic 2 Pro remains one of the best midrange options available. It shoots high-definition 4K videos and 20MP photos, while being compact and easy to fly.
Drone batteries typically last around 30 minutes per charge, so I always carry at least three spares to ensure I have enough power for extended filming sessions.
I carry a couple of microSD memory cards for the drone. A single 128GB card can handle about 3 hours of 4K filming, and having a spare card is essential in case the main one gets filled up.
While I don’t use GoPro for general photography, it’s great for underwater shots. I find it especially useful for capturing underwater adventures at more budget-friendly prices.
This 30-liter dry bag has been a lifesaver in extreme conditions during my island hopping adventures in Indonesia and the Philippines, keeping my electronics safe from water.
This compact hammock is perfect for hiking and backpacking trips. I’ve used it successfully during my travels on epic trails like the Kalalau Trail in Hawaii.
This versatile tent is great for budget travel within the United States. I’ve spent six months sleeping in it during my 20,000-mile journey across eight states, providing me with safety and shelter even in harsh weather conditions.
Lightroom is my go-to program for editing and organizing travel photos, giving them a significant boost in quality.
For drone video editing, I rely on Adobe Premiere Pro, which handles 4K video files with ease.
To ensure I have enough storage for all my photos and videos, I carry this portable 4TB external hard drive, which provides ample space and easy connectivity through USB 3.0.
This handy travel adapter works in over 150 countries and includes side ports for USB charging, making it a convenient and versatile accessory for my international travels.
These are some of the essential items that have accompanied me on countless adventures around the world, helping me capture unforgettable moments and share my travel experiences with others. If you have any questions about any of this gear, feel free to ask me!
Thanks for sharing! I’m Rana Qurban, and this is my travel blog. I’m an avid traveler who first fell in love with exploring the outdoors during a 2015 hiking trip to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.
The next year, I embarked on my first major international adventure—a solo road trip across Iceland. Despite having a limited budget, I managed to make it work by sleeping in the back of a rental car for an entire month while driving 7,000 kilometers around the country, capturing all the breathtaking scenery on film.
To my surprise, one of my early videos went viral, amassing millions of views and even catching the attention of BBC Travel, who featured it on international TV. Since then, I’ve continued my solo journeys, exploring numerous developing countries across Asia, Central America, and the Middle East.
